Reyce's 18th Birthday Fender Guitar
It was my son's 18th Birthday last week and I wanted to make a cake that was really special.
Reyce loves music and has lots of guitars so I decided to make a replica of his Fender Stratocaster guitar.
To make it a bit more of a challenge I thought I'd make it full size and freestanding!
With a little help from a friend we made an internal structure from wood, cut to the same shape as the guitar and used a gate hinge to attach it to the board.
The cake is Chocolate Mud Cake, covered in fondant. The bridge, pickups, string guides, tuning pegs, dials, switches and strap mounts were all hand made and hand painted.
The board was decorated with an image from The Gorillaz ablum "Plastic Beach" with the text written freehand using the Gorillaz font.
The image was also drawn freehand and hand painted using airbrush paints.
Defintely one of my more challenging cakes to make, but I really loved making it and adding all the little details.
Happy 18th Birthday Reyce!
